Born, raised and currently located in Great Neck, NY Alan Shield has had a diverse variety of experiences from financial, retail, Technology, medicine. He currently holds a technical engineering position for the Securities Industry Automation Corporation. SIAC, founded in 1972, is the technology subsidiary of the NYSE Group and the American Stock Exchange (AMEX), with responsibility for the design, development, implementation and operation of the exchanges' computer systems and communications networks. In addition, SIAC operates clearance and settlement systems on behalf of the nation's Clearing Corporations. SIAC also disseminates U.S. market data worldwide. Alan’s responsibities, which included monitoring, maintenance and design of the critical infrastructure of the Shared Date Center from 1999-2005.  In 2005, Alan joined the SIAC SFTI Network.  SFTI, developed in the wake of 9-11 is a newly implemented and is specifically designed to meet the financial industry's need for a data communications infrastructure that is less vulnerable and more resistant to man-made and natural disasters, while speeding recovery after a crisis. Alan prime reasonability is to configure new SFTI member firms onto the SFT Secure Network. With SFTI, member firm connections are fungible, meaning that, in a crisis, a working connection can be quickly and easily pressed into service to carry traffic formerly carried by a broken connection-irrespective of the type of traffic either had been carrying improving SIAC's ability to get SFTI participants 'up' and ready to transact business soon after a major crisis.

Prior to Alan’s employment with SIAC, he had held a technical support position with WESTON USA, a leading disturber of networking equipment in Tarrytown NY. His responsibilities were to provide pre/post sales support to resellers and end users of networking equipment. 

Alan came from a retail background as both an owner and general manager for a retail restaurants group, Long Island Micro Breweries, located in Great Neck, NY.  Long Island Micro Breweries had 4 retail locations in Great Neck, Manhasset and Roslyn NY. 

Before retail, Alan was pursuing a career in the medical industry initially, enrolled at Nassau Community College in Garden City, NY.  He was enrolled in the Respiratory Therapy, which is a 2-year associate program.  Later on changing his focus to become a Physicians Assistant. 

Alan hobbies include web design and news related photography work.  His work has been published in major newspapers, magazines, and private publications since 1992. Alan has had an enormous amount of exposure to the Internet.  The majority of Alan's photography experience has been maintaining his own web site that has topped any other site with detailed graphical photos of live fire fighting. Alan just recently has taken on the complex task of working with people directly on a personal level. He works with an independent agency who promotes and places models from children to seniors.

Alan is the founding member and Director of a Emergency Medical Systems Training Facility in Queens, NY. EMS coordinates CPR courses for both the public and private companies throughout the US. this is accomplished through its extensive contact list of instructors recruited from the most elite medical training facilities throughout the US.

Alan has had an enormous amount of exposure to volunteering for numerous organizations from A local Hospital volunteer at Long Island Jewish medical Center, being the top performer when was 16 years old in raising money for autistic children, to running the EMS team for the Diabetes Association, volunteering for The MS Society, his continued active duty as a volunteer fire medic in Manhasset NY. Alan held a line officer position for 6 years and is currently an Advanced Life Support provider.  Alan has provided medical advice and services as the medical director for Offense Defense Football Camps which is a privately held company in Myrtle Beach, SC.  OD Football Camps is a traveling program that runs for 12 weeks and holds camps in 12 US states. Alan currently is training extensively on a volunteer basis with the US Dept of Homeland Security in Weapons of Mass destruction program. He has been recently certified as a WMD General Instructor.

Alan throughout his career years has also maintained his position as a business owner in both the retail and the Internet segment while finding time to volunteer for numerous local and national organizations, maintain employment and save time for his family. 

Alan has a personality that is easy going, warm, friendly and encouraging. Combining these characteristics with his broad range of knowledge and work ethics, he has been able to achieve many accomplishments throughout his life.  

Alan thrives for the outdoors and as an avid business man, on a seasonal basis, he sets time aside to explore both the gentle and rugged regions of the US capturing moments he enjoys sharing with family, friends and other outdoor enthusiasts.  He currently owns a vacation home in the Pocono's and finds time to rent his own home, never less rent other homes in various vacation locations through his web site.
